For a long time, I felt that God was far away. I believe in Him, but I didn’t really try to get closer to Him. Perhaps I was too busy, or I just didn’t know how. During the Covid pandemic, I joined Sunday School through Zoom and learned about God through Bible stories.

A Life-Changing Moment

When I was in Primary 4, I got into an accident when I was struck by a car while crossing the road. It was so sudden and frightening. I passed out as the car drove over me. Thankfully, I survived, but I needed surgery and suffered post-traumatic syndrome effects. People said I was lucky.

On reflection, I knew it was not luck. It was God who protected me. He was with me even when I wasn’t even looking for Him. After that, I began to see things differently.  I felt very grateful to God. The incident strengthened my father’s faith greatly. He knew it was a great miracle that I was spared from death..

A New Chapter

After that, I started regularly attending Sunday School class at the Korean Ministry in CCMC. Teacher Ai Choo and Teacher Megan didn’t just tell Bible stories. They taught me  and my classmates what is right and wrong, and how to have kindness, honesty, and forgiveness.

I began to learn and understand God’s heart and how He wants us to live. Small acts of kindness matter, and having a good character is part of being a follower of Jesus. This brought big and small changes in my life, and a new way of seeing things.

God isn’t distant anymore. He is personal, and He wants to be close to us. This makes me seek Him more, and talk to Him more.

Inspired by Bible stories

These Bible truths were illustrated through interesting learning activities – reading and discussion of how they apply to our everyday lives. We had so much fun through small group discussion, role play, and reading exercises for expression and fluency.

For example, in the Parable of Salt and Light lesson, we did an experiment in which we successfully “glued” two eggs together. This experiment showed me that like salt, we can have a positive influence and bring our friends and classmates together.

Making Memories with God's Love and Laughter

Happy memories with CCMC's Korean Ministry.

I treasure the happy memories of my time with CCMC’s Korean Ministry and Sunday School friends in class and outside class. We shared many happy moments learning, playing and making friends.

We also made new friends from Korea when they were on their vacation to Singapore. I especially remembered the one-day event at a condominium function room.

The day was filled with excitement as we built simple experiments that taught Biblical lessons, played exciting games, and enjoyed splashing around in the pool outside. We also celebrated a special birthday with snacks!

Trusting God at School

When I was in Primary 5, I faced a very challenging 8-week group project. As my teammates were not focused, the entire project experience became very stressful.

Drawing inspiration from the story of Daniel praying three times a day for guidance, I started praying three times every day - not just asking God for help, but also thanking God for what I could do.

As I prayed, the situation improved, and my teammates began to participate more actively. By the end of the 8 weeks, our team finished the project successfully and our project was featured in a prominent spot in the exhibition hall! Thank you, God!

That experience taught me to trust God in everyday challenges, not just spiritual matters, but schoolwork also! As I rely on God, I find strength and peace. It helps me face challenges with greater confidence knowing that God is with me.

Walking alongside Jesus

This journey has changed me. God isn’t distant anymore. He is personal, and He wants to be close to us. This makes me seek Him more, and talk to Him more.

Though I still make mistakes, I know I'm not alone. God gives me strength to try again, and the conviction to turn away from what is wrong and choose what is right. I feel my spirit growing — through sermons, prayer, and even small moments of reflection.

Learning about God has been a great journey of blessings. The sermons and lessons touch my heart and help me grow in spirit. I truly thank God who never gives up on me and you.
