All glory to God as we held the installation, dedication and introduction of our 2025-2026 Local Church Executive Committee (LCEC), at our Worship Services on 12 October 2025.
That day was also Laity Sunday – a day dedicated to honouring and celebrating the ministry and contributions of our lay members. As such, it was apt that the LCEC was installed and dedicated on this day.
What does the LCEC do?
“Have general oversight of the programme of the local church in pursuing the primary task of the local church.”
– Book of Discipline of the Methodist Church in Singapore
As such, the LCEC are the leaders of our church, composed of dedicated members who are committed to serving God through ministry leadership.

LCEC Chairperson Mr Chia Choon Hoong shared his thoughts on serving in the LCEC:
“Any leadership role in church comes with a solemn responsibility as we are ultimately answerable not to man, but to God. For me, being in the LCEC is a commitment to be a faithful steward of God’s work. It reminds me to serve with compassion and humility, and to seek God’s wisdom in every decision. To be able to do so together with like-minded brothers and sisters is profoundly satisfying as we share the unity of purpose in the body of Christ, and lead CCMC to fulfill God’s plans for us.”

Lay Leader Mr Leslie Wong, who also preached, said: “At every LCEC installation, standing in front of the congregation and seeing everyone's faces, it is a clear and wonderful reminder that we are all part of God's family.
Serving has been a real blessing, because of all the prayers and kind encouragement of many members. And also because working alongside all our other servant leaders has shown me that there are so many other ways to love God.”
Loaves+Fishes also took the opportunity to get to know some members of the LCEC 2025-2026 with three quick questions:
Mr Lim Jit Soon | Committee Chairperson, Finance
1) What does church ministry mean to you?
I see church ministry as a privilege to serve alongside fellow worshippers as we contribute in our own unique ways to build God’s Kingdom.
2) How do you feel about serving in ministry leadership?
For me, serving in leadership is about embracing humility, showing love, and leaning on faith. I don’t always embody these qualities, but I pray that God will fill my heart with the wisdom and love to serve others.
3) Tell us one interesting thing about yourself
I met my wife Seok in high school back in ACS Ipoh and next year will be our 40th anniversary.
Mr Darryl Lau | Committee Chairperson, Young Adults
1) What does Church Ministry mean to you?
Church ministry means, to me, the part of the Christian's life by which love - for God and for each other - finds expression in and through community.
We love by sharing the good news, with those who have yet to hear, that we can be welcomed into God's kingdom through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We love also by sharing our selves (our time, efforts, experiences etc.) to encourage each other to live our lives in a manner worthy of God.
2) How do you feel about serving in ministry leadership?
It feels like a big step! Being blessed with the opportunity to serve in ministry leadership comes with its corresponding responsibility and accountability to God and His community - the weight of which I worry about being unable to bear.
I however take comfort in God’s grace - which I have only grown in appreciation of with each big step I take. His goodness and power are more evident in my weaknesses and inadequacies, and he has placed me amongst brothers and sisters with gifts beyond my own.
3) Tell us one interesting thing about yourself?
I can recite the alphabet in reverse!
Mr Seow Jin Kiat | LCEC Steward (PPRSC)
1) What does Church Ministry mean to you?
This coming year, I will be serving as PPRSC Secretary. Church ministry, to me, is about being willing to serve — even in small ways. Years ago, a pastor friend encouraged me to start small which led to ushering and joining mission trips to lend a hand. Looking back, he was right. If you are thinking of serving, start small and trust that God will guide your steps and grow you in faith.
2) How do you feel about serving in ministry leadership?
In ministry leadership, it is a privilege to serve alongside brothers and sisters in Christ. I have also found that God often uses these journeys to teach me prayerfulness and dependence.
3) Tell us one interesting thing about yourself
Fun fact — my wife Jun and our children, Noah and Esme, appeared on the very first Loaves+Fishes cover in 2013 when Esme was just weeks old (and yes, I had more hair then!).

Keep Our Leaders in Prayer
We thank God for the willing hearts and hands of our LCEC. Let us keep them in prayer as they labour for God and for the Church!
