Interview with Pastor Linda Pang

CCMC welcomed Pastor Linda Pang to our pastorate on 1 August 2026. Loaves+Fishes had the privilege of catching up with her to discover more about her inspiring journey and her passionate heart for ministry.

Do introduce yourself and your family.

I stay with my 88 year-old mum, and my Indonesian domestic helper. I have a younger sister and she has a family – her husband and 2 young adult children. I am immensely grateful to God that my family are Christians. My mum came to know the Lord when she was 79 years-old.

How did you come to receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour?

Before believing in Jesus, I followed the religion of my parents. In my teenage years, I suffered from anxiety because of the pressures of studies, and my father’s dwindling fortunes.

I prayed often, but I did not have peace in my heart. In the months before my A-Levels examination, I asked a Christian classmate for a Bible, and she gave me a pocket-sized New Testament, and I read it sporadically and started listening to Christian songs.

During my crucial A-Levels examination, I did terribly for one of my subjects and knew I would fail the paper. Out of desperation, I prayed to the ‘Christian God’ and said I would go to church to learn more about Christianity if he answered my prayer. Amazingly, he answered my prayer for the grades I asked for; and I started going to church.

It was at a Christian retreat, that I experienced God’s love poured into my heart, and I responded by opening my heart and inviting Jesus into my life to be my Lord and Saviour. I was 19 yrs old when I became a Christian. A few years later, I started attending Faith Community Baptist Church and served as a cell group leader. When my season there was over, I started worshipping at Faith Methodist Church.

What was your occupation before becoming a minister? When and how did you realise your calling to full-time ministry?

My last vocation was as an architect. Some of the projects that I worked on: Central Fire Station, Tuas Checkpoint, Supreme Court, Pasir Ris Sports Centre, overseas residential and commercial projects. I joined the Public Works Department (PWD) upon my graduation; and remained in the same company as it went through corporatisation as CPG Consultants and its subsequent privatisation. I was in the profession and in the same company for 25 years before I resigned to focus on my seminary studies in Trinity Theological College.  

God’s call to full time ministry came to me around 2013, when I was in my middle-age. However, He did not reveal to me specifically the call to be a pastor; He only revealed the call to serve Him full-time devotedly. The verse that spoke to me was: “The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few.” (Matthew 9:37).

It took me a few years to prepare myself to leave the corporate world, and in 2020, I took the step of faith to enroll myself in Trinity Theological College to equip myself for ministry. In my mind I thought I might probably end up working as a staff in a church or in a Christian agency.

However, God began to slowly direct me, using signs and God’s community, including Christian friends and pastors to encourage me. As I spent time praying and discerning His direction, I gained greater clarity that God has called me to be a pastor. I discerned God’s pastoral call through His preparation in my life, His paving the way, affirmation from Christians and the Holy Spirit’s empowerment.

Where did you receive your theological training, and what personal lessons - as opposed to knowledge - did you learn from it?

My enrollment in Trinity Theological College was an inward journey of reset and rediscovery. Moses’s story was a reference point for me – God’s mission for him came when he was 80 years old, when he was two thirds into his life journey. As it turned out, the last 40 years of his life, or his third age, turned out to be his most significant in which he fulfilled much of what he was called to be and to do.

Personally, to enroll myself for seminary studies at a late age, leaving a corporate career behind, has been a time of reset, relearning and humble obedience. For me, it has meant taking the concrete action to walk by faith, not by sight. The journey of faith has been spiritually formative, strengthening my walk and deepening my knowledge of God.  Theological education has helped to form my mind and equip me with skills to handle Scripture faithfully and lead more pastorally. The biblical and theological grounding and pastoral skills enable me to contribute more effectively to God’s kingdom and mission.

Who are your spiritual or ministry mentors? What valuable lessons did you learn from them?

I didn’t really have spiritual mentors in the strict sense of the word, but I have been discipled in God’s community. Christians have been my role-models in different seasons in my life, especially the Pastors I have had the privilege to serve alongside with, as well as Christian friends who have journeyed with me. I also count Christian authors as my teachers – John Stott, Timothy Keller, C. S. Lewis are among them.

Where have you served, and in what capacities? What ministries have you been or are you involved in?

In my Christian journey, I have served in the ministries of: small groups, children, witness & evangelism, prayer and intercession. Before coming to CCMC as a Member-on-Trial, I served full-time for 3 years as a pastoral staff in my home church, Faith Methodist Church in Life Groups, and Prayer ministries.

What are your priorities and prayers for CCMC?

Soon after I was informed that I would be coming to CCMC, God revealed to me His love for the people in CCMC and the girls in MGS. A prayer intercessor shared that as she was praying for me before my posting was out, God revealed to her “CCMC”. God impressed upon me that CCMC is His assignment to me in this season of my life. My purpose and prayer are that I will be God’s humble servant reflecting His love and light as a faithful shepherd and preacher here at CCMC.
