CCMC Celebrates 32 Years of God’s Grace and Faithfulness

Celebrating love, unity, care, and togetherness
On Saturday, 12 September, the eve of our church’s anniversary, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement and anticipation. Event organisers and food station volunteers arrived early, ready to kick off an afternoon full of fun.
Our church announced Family Day to mark our 32nd anniversary, with plans to host a lively, festive event where families and the community can come together. The event was designed to promote relaxation, community building, and belonging.
By around 2pm, the grounds were filled with attendees who walked onto the school campus and gathered around the bustling canteen. Everyone was excited to dive into the activities they had eagerly signed up for and was ready to enjoy a memorable day.
Tan Seng Hock, our lead event organiser, unveiled 11 thrilling activities and stations designed to captivate participants. Sports enthusiasts could immerse themselves in Pickleball and Captain’s Ball at the vibrant Sports Hall, fostering joy and connection.
The Floral Arrangement, Line Dancing, and Poetry and Reflections sessions promised an afternoon full of joyful discovery and fun.
Young children and toddlers gathered to witness an enchanting magician's show that had everyone spellbound. At the end of the show, a long line formed as excited children eagerly waited for their turn to catch their favourite sculpted balloons, creating an atmosphere buzzing with anticipation and joy!
Chia Choon Hoong, our LCEC Chairperson, said, “It’s a special day dedicated to families to bond. We created a safe and welcoming space where parents and young children could come together as a community. Many gathered to celebrate God’s countless blessings, allowing young and old to participate in activities, reconnect with old friends, forge new relationships, and warmly welcome newcomers to our church community.”
In the canteen area, food stations offered delicious, visually appealing treats, allowing attendees to relax, chat informally, and reconnect with family and friends. Fruit cups, luscious mango sticky rice, and juicy burgers with chicken or beef patties tempted hungry attendees to indulge in a delicious afternoon treat.
Seng Hock shared his thoughts: “I’m simply thankful for our vibrant and diverse group of dedicated volunteers who passionately devoted their time and energy to organising this event. Together, we ensured that participants had meaningful opportunities to connect with their families and the community through engaging and memorable activities.”

Melissa Shanker, a recent attendee at our church, shared her thoughts: “I was so excited to hear about CCMC’s Family Day. Church Captain’s Ball was a big part of my youth, so I knew I had to play. I roped in my husband, Sanjeev, and members of my growth group, which I recently joined, for an afternoon of great fun. My longtime pals, Billy and Sarah, came along too.
I had an incredibly meaningful and inspiring day meeting members of the church community. I connected with so many wonderful people and felt truly welcomed and embraced. I am excited and eager for many more opportunities like this to come.”

A call to remain steadfast in our faith
At the 32nd Anniversary Thanksgiving Worship Service on 13 September, Bishop Philip Lim gently reminded us of the essence of faithfulness in the church. He reflected on 1 Thessalonians 1:3, encouraging us to be faithful and to embody Christ’s love through our deeds. He urged us to guide others toward God's grace, find joy and hope in Christ even amid trials, and serve with compassion and love.
Bishop Lim urged us to reflect on what the Apostle Paul might convey about our church community if he were to write us a letter from his heart. Would the Apostle Paul recognise us as a people whose endurance is rooted in hope and unwavering faith?
Rev Joheun Park prayed that our church would continue caring for those in need, share the Gospel, and spread Christ's teachings both locally and globally.

During the Worship Service, the CCMC Combined Choir joyfully lifted their voices in the exalted "Hallelujah Chorus." This sacred anthem embodies our deep, heartfelt devotion and unwavering faith, filling our spirits with divine uplift and praise.
Dressed in vibrant red, our Combined Choir also passionately led the congregation together with the Worship Team in an inspiring rendition of the uplifting Song of Promise, "How Great Is Our God."
Written by Chris Tomlin, this powerful worship anthem moved us to proclaim with unwavering conviction that God's name is above all names, reaffirming His worthiness of all our praise.
Each note and lyric echoed our deep devotion, filling the room with hope, reverence, and joy as we celebrated God's greatness, splendour, and majesty.

The Anniversary celebrations continue over the Thanksgiving Lunch in the MGS canteen.

“I praise God for His favour resting upon CCMC during our Family Day and Anniversary Thanksgiving Worship Service & Lunch, and for blessing the work of our hands. I also want to thank everyone who helped on both days and those who participated! The two days were truly a joyful and meaningful time to come together as God’s covenant community to celebrate His goodness and faithfulness to us.
My prayer for CCMC is that our faith in Jesus will grow more confident and inspire us to produce works that glorify God and edify others. Praise God! Amen!”
